Clymer manual is for first generation Savages. I'll bet if you go look, you'll see an allen screw in the base of each fork slider. Those screws are in fact the drains, at least on mine. Maybe I got an oddball, but your's should be the same. They have actually changed quite a bit in their reintroduction, and the tech issues will be at least somewhat different from what the books say.
